Exhaust Systems

Improve your exhaust system and fine-tune your sound with our own bespoke exhaust system upgrades. Or, opt for an exhaust from Akrapovic , Powerflow, Miltek and other leading manufacturers, all of which our team can supply and fit.

Our exhaust services are comprehensive, offering everything from health checks to major power improvements for a high-performance exhaust. Our upgrades can increase performance without reducing fuel efficiency for a vehicle that makes an impact wherever you drive. Regular services will also extend the life of your exhaust and maintain the condition of your car.

Please take a look below for some frequently asked questions in regards to our exhaust systems. If you have any other questions then don’t hesitate to get in touch and speak to one of our expert team.

What is an exhaust system?

Your exhaust system moves fumes created by the engine away from the vehicle. These fumes are created when fuel (either petrol or diesel) is burnt to power the vehicle – in just the same way that when a log burns, it creates smoke. The exhaust is the equivalent of the chimney, channelling the fumes out and into the air and away from the engine.

The function of the vehicle will affect the design of the exhaust. Contemporary exhausts have catalytic converters or Diesel Particulate Filters, which reduce the number of damaging gases released into the atmosphere. Your exhaust will also control the sound from your engine, reducing noise pollution when you drive or giving your car the trademark growl when modified.

What is a performance/custom exhaust

Our team are trained in building high-tech custom exhausts, transforming your vehicle’s performance from within.

When initially built, your car will have been fitted with a standard exhaust. Designed to meet regulatory requirements, this system often doesn’t complement the true potential of your engine or enhance performance in the way that a custom exhaust can. Our exhausts are designed to work with your car rather than against it, increasing horsepower, modifying sound, and improving performance. If you want a vehicle that packs a punch, a custom exhaust is the way to go.

Improving exhaust airflow

Ridding your engine of waste gases is crucial to keeping your vehicle on the road. It allows your car to continue burning fuel and channel power to your wheels. An exhaust that isn’t effectively removing gases is going to put the performance of your entire vehicle at risk and reduce power.

Airflow is the term used to describe the flow of fresh air that’s drawn into the engine to pick up the waste gases and channel them away from the car. When we create custom exhausts, we ensure sufficient airflow to improve function and prevent power limitations. Many cars are built with a standard exhaust that limits the power output of the engine, whilst ours are designed to enhance it and transform your vehicle.

What is a diesel particulate filter?

What is a catalytic converter

A Catalytic Converter does the same job as a DPF. As gases pass through the exhaust, the Catalytic Converter removes the most harmful of them. Your exhaust may have either a Catalytic Converter or a DPF, or both.

What is a gasoline particulate filter?

A Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) is similar to both a Catalytic Converter and a DPF. It filters out harmful gases from the exhaust before they enter the air. But, whilst a DPF is used in diesel engines, a GPF is used in petrol engines.

Is Removing a DPF, GPF, or Catalytic Converter Illegal?

A Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) is similar to both a Catalytic Converter and a DPF. It filters out harmful gases from the exhaust before they enter the air. But, whilst a DPF is used in diesel engines, a GPF is used in petrol engines.

Does removing a DPF improve performance?

However, many car owners still remove DPFs from their exhausts to enhance performance. The DPF acts as a filter for the air passing through, which slows down the airflow and decreases the power of the engine. By removing the DPF, you remove the obstacle in the air’s path, allowing it to flow more freely and draw more power to the wheels.

However, as mentioned, this – as well as removing a GPF or catalytic convertor – is illegal and a modification we never endorse.

Why upgrade to a performance exhaust?

Removing a DPF, GPF, or Catalytic Converter can increase the power of your vehicle, but it can also land you in a lot of legal trouble. Rather than carry out this modification, it’s a far better choice to upgrade to a performance exhaust.

A performance exhaust works on the basis that the quicker gases leave the engine and enter the atmosphere, the better airflow you have into the exhaust. With increased airflow comes increased power output. To build a vehicle that can’t be beaten, you need a performance exhaust to ensure air is flowing freely throughout rev ranges and allowing your engine to reach its full potential.

When you work with us, your custom exhaust will be designed to optimise airflow, with everything from its shape to diameter being carefully considered. We can either replace your entire exhaust system with an enhanced model, or replace the most restrictive areas that are decreasing the efficiency of your existing exhaust. Our team will also test your ECU software after your performance exhaust is fitted to ensure everything is compatible and working at maximum efficiency. Once your vehicle is upgraded, it’s time to take your new engine for a spin.

We take performance seriously. If you do too, book your car in with us for professional modification services and let’s see what your vehicle can really do.
